These new requirements went in to effect September 21, 2022.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dYaP9QGzblA\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>For all New York real estate licensees with an active real estate license that currently expires after September 21, 2022, these new rules apply to you.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the complete list of mandatory courses for all NY real estate licensees<strong> expiring after September 21, 2022<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2.5 Ethical Business Practices<\/li>\n<li>3 Hours Fair Housing<\/li>\n<li>1 Hour Legal Update<\/li>\n<li>1 Hour Law of Agency (2 Hours for first renewal cycle)<\/li>\n<li>2 Hours <a href=\"https:\/\/keepmecertified.com\/blog\/implicit-bias-ny-real-estate-continuing-ed-mandatory-course\/\">Implicit Bias<\/a> &#8211; <strong>NEW Requirement<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>2 Hours Cultural Competency &#8211;<strong> NEW Requirement<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Keep Me Certified&#8217;s Implicit Bias and Cultural Competency courses are currently approved and available in our New York course <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.keepmecertified.com\/catalog#package-list\">catalog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Remember to complete all of the necessary continuing ed credits you need prior to renewing your real estate license. Once you have completed the credits you need, only you can renew your New York real estate license through the <a href=\"https:\/\/appext20.dos.ny.gov\/nydos\/nydoslogin.do?header=true\">NY elicense portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Keep Me Certified is a fully approved online real estate school. Each of our courses are periodically updated and individually approved to count towards satisfying the education requirements necessary to renew or reactivate a New York real estate license.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more or enroll and get started, visit us at <a href=\"http:\/\/ny.keepmecertified.com\">keepmecertified.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Original note from NY DOS included below:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p><em>Dear Real Estate Licensee:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>New laws regarding continuing education for real estate salespersons and brokers were recently adopted. The new laws require as part of the 22.5 hours of continuing education required to renew, both real estate salespersons and brokers licenses, at least 2 hours of instruction pertaining to\u00a0<span class=\"il\">implicit<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">bias<\/span>\u00a0awareness and understanding, and at least two hours of cultural competency training.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Therefore, effective September 21, 2022, all licensees will be required to successfully complete 22.5 hours of approved continuing that includes at least 2.5 hours on the subject of ethical business practices, at least 1 hour of recent legal matters, at least 3 hours of instruction pertaining to fair housing and\/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property or an interest in real property, at least 1 hour of instruction pertaining to law of agency except in the case of the initial two-year licensing term for real estate salespersons 2 hours of agency related instruction,\u00a0<b>at least 2 hours of instruction pertaining to\u00a0<span class=\"il\">implicit<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">bias<\/span>\u00a0awareness and understanding, and at least two hours of cultural competency training<\/b>. Instruction must be completed within the two-year period immediately preceding a renewal.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>For purposes of implementing the changes, the new requirements are effective on the actual date the license expires rather than the date the renewal application is submitted for processing.
