2025 New Jersey Real Estate Continuing Ed Requirements – NEW
There is an important change to the 2025 New Jersey license renewal requirements. Every two years New Jersey licensees need to complete continuing ed to keep their NJ real estate license active. Here is what you need to know for the 2025 cycle:
- The Continuing Education completion deadline is April 30, 2025. If you complete your CE late, after April 30, 2025, there is a $200 late fee due to the state at renewal.
- 12 Credit hours of continuing education of which;
- 6 of the total 12 continuing ed credits must be approved as Core courses,
- 2 of the 6 Core continuing ed credits must be approved for Ethics
- 1 of the 6 Core continuing ed credits must be approved for Fair Housing
- 1 of the 6 Core continuing ed credits must be approved for Agency – *This is a new topic requirement for 2025* We offer a two credit “Agency Relationships” course that satisfies this requirement.
- As long as the minimum Core requirements above are met, the remaining credits can be elective or additional credits in any of the Core topics.
- These requirements apply to all actively licensed real estate Brokers, Broker Salespersons, and Salespersons who want to renew their active real estate license.
- Exemption: If you initially earned your license between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025

Continuing education credits can be completed in a live classroom or an entirely online setting (on-demand/self-paced, Zoom, etc.). There are no requirements to complete certain continuing ed courses in a specific delivery method.
